In November of 1995, Ronnie Oakes was elected Sheriff of Wise County and the City of Norton. Sheriff Oakes and his office has been proactive; securing grants, modernizing the department and instituting programs. We are actively working to become a State accredited law enforcement agency through the Department of Criminal Justice Service.

    With 45 deputies assigned to law enforcement, and 11 dispatchers, the Wise County Sheriff's Office currently has the largest staff in the history of the department.

Emergency Dispatch

Our Central Dispatch receives over 39,650 calls for service each year from law enforcement and emergency service agencies throughout the county. Our Computer Aided Dispatch is fully equipped for the year 2000.

Road Deputies

Wise County Sheriff's Office is proud to have 45 road deputies who patrol all 407.5 square miles of the county. Deputies also provide court security, service papers, answer emergency calls, enforce laws, conduct investigations, and transport prisoners.
